Slimming Clubs continued …
She was a member of a well-respected
slimming club but had reached a plateau in
her weight loss journey. Across the world there
are well-established networks of clubs, run by
experienced leaders who have successfully
lost weight. I have to admit I am gold member
of one of these clubs. So how does belonging
to a slimming club fit in with using this
product?
Think about track 3, Iron Willpower. If we
examine the six skills of willpower from the
track and the book:

I have come to the conclusion (and from my
own experiences) that slimming clubs provide
several of these skills and allow participants to
have the opportunity to learn and practice
their willpower skills. We think that slimming
clubs are all about the diet plan, but there is
much more going on. By attending, you are
gaining more confidence. You lose weight and
receive praise from the leader and other
members. You feel good about yourself. Your
confidence in your own abilities grows.
I think the main skill, however, that benefits
from slimming club attendance is focus.
Your mind can easily distract you from your
purpose. It can tell you to ease up or stop
trying for a while or start again next month.
But if you are due to attend your slimming
club next Monday … you’ll then be
weighed. And your membership card will be
stamped and your weight written down. These
simple acts provide a laser-like focus onto your
slimming plans. The attendance keeps your
mind in the zone. This effect is even more
pronounced if you have a slimming club buddy
to attend with you. A competitive family
member can be even better. It gives you an
edge. You want to support your friend or
family member but also to compete with
them. And this is healthy competition!
Back to my client. She needed to learn how to
get her mind and emotions on track and to
change her eating habits for good so she could
continue to lose weight. Once she had done
that, using hypnotherapy and energy therapies
(EFT in this case), she could go back to her club
and put it all into practice. She could rejoin her
friends at the club and enjoy meetings while
she lost weight. It became easy and enjoyable.
She kept in touch with me. She told me that
she was often ‘Slimmer of the Month’. All the
issues that had been stopping her from being
successful had been resolved. In her case
there were no deep problems or things from
the past that were holding her back. It was a
simple case of behaviour change, dissolving
the negative thinking that often frustrated her
resolve and, finally, working at an emotional
level to make losing weight fun, exciting,
enjoyable … a wonderful adventure.
