Believe in Yourself continued

Now it’s time to spread the word. Time to promote a different way of approaching this problem of unwanted weight. When you stop believing the answers lie in a new book of diet recipes or a meal and exercise plan devised by someone in the public eye, you can begin to focus inside and find out what your body wants and needs. About beliefs … Your body is a unique organic machine, built to take you through life, adapting, reacting, building, repairing, healing and resting … it is exceptionally resilient. But it does need looking after well. I KNOW your body will let you know what it really wants when you listen inside. You may have to practice a bit in the beginning. You’ll need to get to know yourself better. Very soon, you and your body will be working in harmony with each other. Aside from meal plans and diet recipes, have you noticed how little attention the diet industry gives to what you think and how you feel? And even deeper than that, what you believe. What even are beliefs?  What are your beliefs about yourself, your weight and body image? Beliefs are powerful things. It seems like they’re difficult to change. If you have a strong belief you can’t lose weight, for example, how will that affect this program? Let’s think about beliefs in a slightly different way: One day you have a thought, “I’m finding it hard to lose weight.” Your mind duly stores it in the place you keep for these subjects. The next day, you say to yourself, “This weight is not disappearing!” Your mind stores the thought.  A few weeks later you’ve accumulated hundreds of similar thoughts about the problem that you aren’t losing weight. It may be you are struggling in a practical sense with whatever diet you are following, or you may be under terrible life stress. Your mind doesn’t notice these things; it locks onto “I can’t lose weight.” Thousands of similar thoughts later … a belief is formed. It is made up from hundreds and thousands of similar thoughts on the same subject. It is strong and resists all contradictions! And most irritatingly, (if that’s a word), it starts to affect your behaviour. It starts to make your belief into reality. Soon, your belief becomes your truth. Like I said, it doesn’t like being contradicted. It therefore prevents, in many and varied sneaky ways, any future weight loss. In fact, such a belief can stop a weight-loss program in its tracks with a single, “I can’t lose weight.” It pops out of your mouth when the subject of slimming crops up. Your doctor may suggest you lose a few pounds and your belief rears its head saying, “I can’t lose weight.” You doctor begs to differ. But your belief is stronger. What can be done? If you’ve started to read the companion book you’ll know that this problem is located deep in the subconscious mind. This is the area where hypnotherapy is effective. We are able to use altered states of awareness (or trance or hypnosis) to get access to deep parts of the subconscious and make positive changes. If you are interested in how hypnosis has been described and defined, check out the UK College of Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy website where you can find out more. Beliefs can change if you want them to … it may take a bit of work, but it will be worth it. All the 12 tracks in the Slimmer and Healthier album are designed to make this happen for you. Immerse yourself in the process and find out how great it will be when your beliefs support your goals rather than frustrate them.
